Check that your name is stored as user information rather than accidentally appearing as the character’s name. Then remove conflicting examples before changing anything else.

Separate the two identities
Make a small list: user name, user pronouns, character name, character pronouns. Check the greeting and dialogue examples against it.

Use a persistent field if available
Put the user identity in the provider’s user-persona or memory field when one is offered. A message far back in the conversation may not remain available.

Try a short fresh exchange
Test the corrected setup with a simple greeting. Preserve the old conversation before any reset; changing a field does not necessarily rewrite its history.

User: Morgan, they/them. Character: Alex, he/him. Alex addresses Morgan by name only when it sounds natural.
